Mechanical Design
Overall System Design
The overall system is designed with the goal of making the outside look as clean and neat as possible without any structural pieces showing. This was accomplished using internal acrylic gussets secured in place with epoxy, reinforced with hot glue sealing all the connections and joints.

Motor-Belt Subsystem
The motor-belt system is designed to be taken off the entire assembly easily to access all the electronics and wiring. In order to achieve this, the motor-belt system is attached to the control panel, and the entire subassembly is resting on top of the main frame, located by four different acrylic gussets underneath. The details of this can be seen in the full CAD assembly file. The belt clamp is made from two pieces of acrylic, clamped together by four bolts, with an additional zinc-coated bolt secured in the center of the clamp. This bolt serves as the anchoring point for the 3D printed Jeep.

Motor-Winch Subsystem
The motor-winch subsystem is designed partially as a structural piece, tying together the two side panels of the main frame, preventing them from coming apart during operation. It has a DC motor attched to a custom made winch from an one inch diameter 6061 aluminum rod with a set-screw. There is also a servo on top of the subassembly, controlling the "sun", which is one of our mechanisms for showing the passage of time during operation.
